Ford says that their 2017 truck will be a beast with more power than ever before. It will be available in the fall of 2016. The F-150 Raptor has over 500 hp due to its twin turbo V-6. All four wheels will receive continuous power from the Raptor’s 10 speed transmission with paddle shifters. Ford will be offering the public two versions for the wheelbase-cab system. You can choose from the SuperCab which is 133 inches and the four door SuperCrew at 145 inches. There latter of which allows more room to throw the kids in.
The 2017 Ford Raptor has been designed with a durable protective skid plate for the front. It features heavy duty Fox Racing Shox, 17 inch aluminum wheels, and 35 inch beefy tires. The sturdy, military grade, aluminum alloy body eases off a bit on weight, but sacrifices no strength. High strength aluminum alloy has also been used to engineer the full box frame which means it features even more than last year’s model. This adds up to 500 fewer pounds than its predecessor.
The 2017 Raptor struts wheels which are bead lock capable and class exclusive for awesome, beast performance on the road as well as off. The conversion kit allows you to deflate to gain maximum off road traction which will not only grip tight, but remain that way when you get back on the road. You must, of course, locate these in the Ford Performance lineup. Other available goodies include something designed solely for the Raptor. BFGoodrich introduced the All-Terrain T/AKO2 17 inch tires for this sand dragon.
Dragons Only Sand Race
In preparation for the demanding off road racing series Ford puts all four paws forward for the Best in Desert. The company has 115 years of experience, handed directly down from Henry Ford himself, in the off road durability department. One of the premier off road racing sponsors within the United States is the well-known Ford Performance.
The Raptor race truck is powered by the innovative 3.5 liter EcoBoost motor which offers, of course, high output performance. It provides nothing less than a high powered torque on demand transfer case. The Racing Raptor also features a long travel suspension which has been race optimized. This beast is well prepared to take on every grueling grain of sand of the toughest terrain in any desert.
Most of the Raptor’s arsenal is stock; however, it has been equipped with a few extras to meet the demands of desert racing. Its fabricated roll cage has been custom designed especially for the occasion. The raptor has also been given a lift with new rear and front racing springs. In addition it has been designed with a racing fuel cell and for a cosmetic change up the Raptor sports LED external lighting and race seats as well as camera technology and window nets for safety accuracy.
The 2017 Ford Raptor will not feature a V-8 Iron Block, but the EcoBoost instead mentioned above. This is a V-6, 3.5 liter engine with direct fuel injection and twin turbo charge. This engine is in fashion of those designed for the sports car race scene. This explains the updated fuel system, aluminum block, and cylinder heads. This beast is equipped to exhale via twin outlets in the rear shorty bumper of the true dual exhaust system. All of this puts the V-8’s, measly 434 pound-foot of torque and 411 horse power to shame.
The 2017 Raptor has received the evolutionary Terrain Management System. This driving technology allows the driver to choose the vehicle’s driving mode and adapt to the environmental conditions. Driving dynamics such as mud, snow, or sand will become much easier to navigate. To optimize its performance you also get features such as traction control; driveline; powertrain; AdvanceTrac, for stability control; and ABS.
Terrain Management System Options:
- Baja Mode
- Mud/Sand Mode
- Normal Mode
- Rock Mode
- Street Mode
- Weather Mode
Another area of technology is the Raptor’s next generation, Synch 3, infotainment system. This will only be standard in hopes and dreams; however, it will be available. It is to include a dashboard mounted touch screen for access. The interface will allow drivers and/or passengers to pair smartphones with the system for connection via Bluetooth; mobile app accessibility; control of various vehicle settings; and navigational technology convenience.
The Ford Raptor will be offering a plethora of features in the tech department as well. Improvements have been made to both the rear and front visibilities. This is in combination with the comprehensive in-vehicle camera setup and Ford’s BLIS technology. BLIS is their Blind Spot Information System created with Cross Traffic Alert for changing lanes or backing up. Smartphones may be paired with a 911 Assist system in the event of air bag deployment to contact emergency rescue.
There may also be good news for the economy in Michigan, or more specifically, Dearborn. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be sold in China. It will be the first time that these sales been officially introduced. The sale is to begin in 2017 and may only be the SuperCrew model. There has been no formal price announcements, but it is said that the Raptor will most likely start at $50,000 and rise as fees such as those for importation are added.
So far it will only be the 2017 Raptor which will be sold in Chine; however nothing has been said to indicate others are not being considered. The citizens are already Ford Raptor fans, but if all goes smoothly, perhaps other Fords will be released there as well as other makes and models.
This news could help the Dearborn economy since the plant engineering the Raptors is located there, especially since the market is official. Ford is one of the number one sellers in the American automobile industry and has been for three consecutive decades. The F-150 in particular is sold in 95 different countries across the globe.
