5 Desserts That Are Actually Kinda Sorta Healthy

Healthy desserts. It sounds like an oxymoron. But it doesn’t have to be. They’re not going to be deep-fried and they’re not going to be dripping in icing, but we think you’ll still find them pretty damn tasty. These recipes have delicious fruit, rich chocolate and peanut butter, and a whole lot of flavor for desserts with “guilt-free” and “healthy” in the title.

Here are 5 desserts that are actually kinda sorta healthy for you.

  1. Guilt-Free Peach Cobbler

Peaches are already sweet as is. Why add sugar that makes it almost too sweet to eat more than one tiny piece? This peach cobbler recipe beats out other ones for a few reasons. For one, the peaches are grilled which gives them this savory and sweet, smoky taste. For another, low-fat biscuits are an easy way of reducing calories – and you really can’t tell the difference. This recipe cuts down 286 calories and 19 grams of fat thanks to these tweaks.

  1. No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

These chocolate peanut butter bars basically have everything going for them, especially if you’re not a top-notch chef. You don’t have to wait for the oven to preheat and then another thirty minutes and then another hour for it to cool down. No-bake. There’s chocolate. And peanut butter. And high-protein Greek yogurt. So what makes these healthy? You’re using unsalted butter and unsalted peanuts – low sodium. You’re also using reduced-fat cream cheese, which isn’t horribly bad for you!

  1. No-Bake Chewy Truffle CookiesTruffle cookies

Okay, so clearly we’re digging to no-bake thing. Cause ain’t nobody got time for that. Just a glance at the ingredients list will tell you why these babies are healthy. They’ve got: dates, reduced-fat peanut butter, unsweetened and unsalted ingredients, whole wheat graham crackers, and rolled oats. With dates, whole wheat, and oats, they’re awesome for digestion and filling for just little bite-sized truffles. Essentially all you do is mix the ingredients over medium heat in a saucepan and drop them onto a pan and slide them into the fridge to cool off. Then you get to roll them in tasty toppings. Nom.

  1. Basic Chocolate Cake

Lolz at calling this cake a basic bitch. She is not basic, but she is easy to make. This cake is good for you because it replaces butter with olive oil (though you can’t taste the difference, don’t worry). It’s also made with dark chocolate and coffee – both good for you, both mega-rich in taste. Enjoy!

  1. Peppermint Fudge Protein BrowniesPeppermint fudge protein cookies

Bodybuilding.com, of all places, is an awesome place to find dessert recipes, almost all of which have “protein” in the title. Unsurprisingly, they contain whey powder. They’ve also got – don’t freak out – black beans. Vanilla and mint extracts, rich coconut oil, stevia, and cocoa cover up any veggie taste. Stevia, if you’ve never had it, tastes exactly like sugar, without the calories. These brownies are the healthiest brownies you will ever find in your life. And yet, they’re healthy. You can’t lose.
